I am interested in mathematically characterizing various dynamic systems and/or modeling such systems using time series data observed from the systems. Although I have been investigating nonlinear and deterministic aspects of the underlying systems, I have recently started treating the nonlinear and stochastic aspects. In applications, my interests include biological phenomena, geophysical phenomena such as weather and earthquakes, and social phenomena. Especially, I have been reconstructing three-dimensional chromosomal structure from data obtained from biological experiments.
