Optimization is a process of finding the best feasible state of factors that have impact on a given quality measure such as cost or performance of a product. Black-Box Optimization refers to optimization where the quality measure is computed through a complex and computationally expensive simulation, and hence the relation between the quality measure and the factors are almost black-box. It finds many applications in various research field including artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering, control engineering, material engineering, and civil engineering. We are working on design of user-friendly black-box optimization algorithms, their theoretical analysis and applications of black-box optimization techniques to AI and other engineering problems.
